My Story
Hi, I'm Angela Karner. My family and I live in Portland, Oregon. I am a mother of 2 and a life-long athlete. Movemement has been a source of JOY since my childhood. I created TGB method to help people, of all ages and fitness levels, attain new levels of physical and mental strength.
Before becoming a fitness professional, I spent 14 years in the maritime industry working as a captain and engineer. I was fortunate to work aboard reasearch vessels and private yachts around the world. After my first child was born, year-round travel was no longer realistic or of interest. I decided to focus on expanding my love of movement into a career while creating an inclusive fitness space.
After completing multiple fitness certifications, in a variety of modalities, I still hadn't found the fitness class that checked all of the boxes for me. I loved the intensity and challenge of a barre class, but often found myself unable to engage the right muscles at a fast pace. I wanted a workout that required a great deal of focus to quiet my mind and keep me present. Form Method fuses Pilates, low impact cardio, barre, and functional strength combinations using heavier weights (optional). Classes are low impact (no jumping) yet high intensity. Core strength and stability are the foundation.
I have been teaching my method exclusively since 2020 and am stonger today than I was in my 20's or 30's. Exercising in a way that doesn't deplete my body has had a positive impact on my nervous system. Regularly challenging my balance and coordination has allowed me to maintain agility and has sharpened my mental focus.
